Two Types of Entrepreneurs
Author: Steve Little10 Apr
I was searching for some background information for a new article series I am writing and came across something I believe you will find valuable and useful.
The article is called “The Two Types of Entrepreneurs” as was written by home office success guru Jeff Landers.
“Don’t fool yourself. Having a den with a computer doesn’t mean you’re ready to run your own business….A real entrepreneur isn’t satisfied with their success today. They want to create a business that will continue to succeed tomorrow. They look beyond the present. They are always striving to be more.”
I could not help but notice the article did NOT say “do more” or “have more”.
Rather it says “be more”. Those that have been reading my blog for a while will find that familiar.
What else?
“Your business has to match you. The first thing you have to decide is whether you want to stay small or build an empire. No need to write a whole business plan that only you and your mother will read. Just picture yourself having the perfect business-what does it look like? How are you living your life?”
When the structure of your business matches who you want to be, success will flow effortlessly.
A simple illustration might be, since attending my daughter Madeline’s ballet practice each Friday afternoon is something I am purposefully committed to, I structure my other activities, include my work time, to allow me to fulfill my commitment.
By doing that, I am structuring my business to serve who I want to be; “an amazing father”. The net effect is my business success becomes an effortless contributor to accomplishment of purpose as opposed to a detractor from it.
Consider whatever it is you are doing now:
When does it feel like it is effortless and stress free?
When does it feel otherwise?
I am very interested to hear your thoughts about my observations from this article.
Please comment on my blog.
I am standing for all that is possible for you. Please let me know how I can be of service.
Gratefully,
Steve

Hi Steve,
I fully agree with the first statement regarding entrepreneurship. It’s a quest for bringing forth the future out of one’s vision, objectives and goals. What a disease to have. I wonder how those who are not in this camp feel about their lives. Most of them I suspect are in various states of pain, boredom and great satisfaction getting the most they can for the least effort - getting by and even prospering by ordinary measures.
The second statement about envisioning your vision and comparing that image or movie to how you are living life seems all too airy. I believe it takes action - orchestrated well-intentioned appropriate action and an experiencing of progress in the process and in concert with the vision and effort - without fooling yourself - to help empower the pursuit and add confidence that you are on the right path.
I don’t know the law of physics that applies - I’m not certain that anyone does. Some will say it’s the law of attraction. I don’t know. I like the notion that thoughts have energy and help manifest the future. It’s plausible but a notion developed by metaphysicians packaged for the mass intellect and questionable confirmation that it’s valid. Maybe you can enlighten me here. Care to elaborate?
Regarding moments of extreme joy, pleasure, ecstacy, involvement - there is no sense of self. It’s only when you come down to earth that complection chacges and you enter the equation.
You must do what all the monkeys are doing or you’ll get a belly full of lead. That’s the law of self awareness in the real wold.
Thanks for the information. You’re one of the best humans out there. Give Kimberly a hug for me.
All the best - - - Ed
Thank for your comment Ed. I appreciate you taking the time to provide your insight.
I offer 2 thoughts for consideration:
First, your comment, “I believe it takes action - orchestrated well-intentioned appropriate action ” is right on the money (no punn intended).
The key is which actions. By getting clear about what you want, while also eliminating subconscious limiting beliefs and counter-intentional thought, you receive ‘inspiration’, often in the form of ideas for action.
Take that action without 2nd guessing or egoic re-evaluation and the likelihood of your ultimate success is very high; assured I would say.
The 2nd point made in the article is really about the practical alignment of what you want vs what you create. For instance there are some people who believe that entrepreneurial success ‘requires’ building a big company with building edifice et-al. While you and I both know this is not necessarily true, the thrust of this message is more about personal alignment with desires to experience success then about attaining some specific success milestone.
It is clearly my fervant belief that focusing your attention on what ignites your passion is what leads to success, security, and the experience of abundant living. This is in contrast to what what we are taught and we actually observe culterally in the US anyway.
However, I also believe this is the very reason so many people in your and my age group are seeking alternatives to the ‘traditional’ circa 1960’s life philosophy - go to school, get a job, sacrifice or defer pursuit of your passion for about 40 years, and then hope and pray that it all works out in the end and there is enough time and money for you to do what you always wanted then.
I believe it is also the reason we see an entire generation of gen-yers entering the economy with radically different views about what a successful life is about.
The point is, make your ‘work’ fit the lifestyle you desires, and enjoy it. If you want to build a company with big buildings and thousands of employees…do it. if you want to make $20M / yr working from home on the internet, do it. If you want to make your living selling crafts you made in your basement, do it.
Do what you love and the rest (the money et-al) will come. Do what you think you ’should’ or ‘must’ do and you short change your experience of life.
Which takes us to your 2nd point. While I believe there is ample evidence of metaphysical validation through credible science, The Law of Attraction is clearly verifiable by experience. Since it is our experience of life that matters, the metaphysical ‘proof’ is only pertinent from an academic perspective.
This is what I know. The more frequently you are able free yourself of the ego to enjoy and authentically and gratefully appreciate all that you have, the more of what you want shows up in your life.
The higher the intensity of the joy, the greater the vividness of the image, and the more confident the affirmation you hold in your mind, the greater the assurance of success in accomplishment.
By recognizing and truly appreciating your experience now, by gratefully accepting that everything is in service your greater good, by finding your bliss in every aspect of your life experience, whether through a metaphysical energy pathway, or spiritual alignment with the creative life force, you will draw the people and experiences into your life necessary to manifest what you desire.
I am not contending that no action is required. To the contrary, I am suggesting that you must act immediately on inspiration…..which incidently often take more faith and courage then doing what you have been told you should do.
I am not sure I understand the reference to ‘monkeys’ and a belly full of lead. =0))
Thank you again. I sincerely appreciate your comment and inquiry.
Much love,
Steve
Hi Steve,
I have been going through some major changes within lately that are forcing me to “be” the person I want to be to succeed. I am making the transition from a corporate job to aligning my income with my spiritual and service endeavors.
In that experience, it’s become clear to me that the more I BEcome and embody the way that going about the world feels right, the more and more opportunities begin to align.
I have not reached that point where things are aligning effortlessly, but I am noticing that many events and situations are aligning more and more to make that reality come true.
The hardest part is de-conditioning myself and removing some of the limiting beliefs I’ve had about what it means to “earn income” that I’ve adopted from my upbringing.
So yes, I do agree that when a business is structured to support and align with what I want to do, the success will flow effortlessly. However, I am also realizing that to make that a reality, it takes a lot of effort to move past the old limiting beliefs about what it means to align business and BEing.
I have noticed that in my “2nd job” (I work at night on my spiritual / service endeavors after my wife and son go to sleep), about 95% of the work I do feels effortless. I can feel the joy pouring through me, and the feedback I receive from others who are touched by my efforts continues to provide fuel for my soul.
When it feels like “work” is usually some of the more mundane things — focusing on certain marketing tasks, or more often than not, when I’m not quite in the mental or physical (tired) space to really be devoting to my endeavors.
On a different and unrelated tangent, have you read the book “A Champion Lives Within”? Your blog title and general energy in your writing reminds me very much of that book. My father gave it to me early in my teen years when I was preparing to compete in international martial arts competition, and that book has always had a place near and dear to my heart.
Thank you for your comment Chris! I really appreciate you sharing your experience. Clearly your evening endeavor is purposefully aligned and ignites the passion in you.
BRAVO my friend.
Yes I have read the book, ‘A Champion Lives Within” by Boyd C. Matheson. Is that the one you mean? Very powerful. I too received it as a teen. I think it was my uncle who gave it to me.
Very powerful.
One of the things you might consider using any of the clearing techniques I teach and write about to ‘clear’ the memories and limiting beliefs that cause you to experience upset or dissatisfaction with your 1st job or any other areas of life where you find yourself, stressed, anxious, angry, fearful, etc.
Then, you can ‘imbue’ your day job with the same joyful and purposeful accomplishment you experience in your 2nd job.
Imagine that!
You are an inspiration.
Thank you,
Steve
Steve,
That’s the book I was referring to.
Thank you also for the tips about imbuing my day job with the same joyful and purposeful experience.
That is something along the lines of similar advice from one of my spiritual teachers. I was discussing how I felt “in between” my day job and my night job, and she suggested that rather than feeling “in between” I might consider viewing myself as having “one foot in each.” Really… to embrace being a part of both, rather than separate from both.
Based on your advice, I’ll definitely look into some of your techniques more specifically; I sense they will help in removing some of my existing blockages towards experiencing that joyful one-ness at all times regardless of what I’m doing (as opposed to certain ‘budgeted’ times of day).
Thanks again for your insight, Steve. It is much appreciated.
